"IIT-Madras' campus in Zanzibar set to be opened in early November, according to Education Minister Pradhan."

The offshore branch of IIT-Madras in Zanzibar, Tanzania, is slated to be officially opened in early November, as stated by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The minister revealed this information during an event held to award an honorary doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who is currently visiting India.

"I am pleased to announce that the first overseas campus of any Indian Institute of Technology is being established in Zanzibar. I have been informed that the inauguration of IIT-Madras' Zanzibar campus is planned for early next month," the minister disclosed.

The inaugural event will be a significant moment in the collaboration between India and Tanzania in higher education.
